If you haven't been paying attention to what's happening in Conroe lately, it's time to start. The city that many Woodlands residents drive through on the way somewhere else is quietly becoming a destination in its own right — and spring 2026 is shaping up to be its busiest season yet.

First, There's a Beer Festival You Should Know About

Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 28th.

The fourth annual Texas Lagerfest takes over downtown Conroe from noon to 6 PM at Fass Brewing Co., 236 N. Main St. This is an all-afternoon celebration of craft lager featuring unlimited samples from more than 20 Texas breweries, food trucks, and live music. Think rice lagers, West Coast pilsners, doppelbocks, dunkels — a range that goes well beyond what most people picture when they hear "lager."

It's one of the best excuses to spend an afternoon in Historic Downtown Conroe, which has developed into a genuinely walkable stretch of breweries, restaurants, and local shops worth exploring on its own. Texas Lagerfest just gives you a reason to finally go.

The City Is Growing Fast

Conroe has been on Texas's fastest-growing cities list for years now, and 2026 is adding more proof. A wave of new businesses are either open or opening soon, and a couple of them are worth flagging specifically for Woodlands-area residents who make that short drive north regularly.

Woody's Hideaway is coming to 1128 W. Dallas St., near the intersection of I-45 and Highway 105. The concept is a 10,000-plus square foot "eatertainment" venue with golf simulator bays, swing golf bays, karaoke, interactive darts, billiards, yard games, a full bar, and bar food — basically everything you'd want under one roof for a group night out. Early 2026 is the target opening. This one is going to be popular.

And if you're someone who's been watching the fitness options in Conroe expand, there's more good news on that front.

A Major Fitness Opening Is Coming This Spring

Crunch Fitness is set to open a new 45,000-square-foot facility at 1414 N. Loop 336 W. in Conroe this spring. That's a big footprint — high-intensity interval training zones, Olympic lifting platforms, cycling studios, yoga studios, and the full Crunch format that's become one of the more popular gym brands in Texas.

For health-conscious residents on the north end of The Woodlands or in Conroe itself, this is a meaningful addition to the local fitness landscape. Large-format gyms with this kind of equipment variety have historically been harder to find in this corridor without driving further south. This one closes that gap.

If your New Year's resolution is still technically alive, this might be the accountability nudge you needed.

Conroe is worth watching right now. Between the downtown food and brewery scene, the incoming entertainment concepts, and the fitness infrastructure catching up to its population growth, the city is filling in fast. We'll keep tracking it.
